Judah is 7 months old today. Today is also Shea's birthday. She is slightly older than Judah. The approximate formula for Shea's age = Judah X 58.3. You do the math.
Here are a few recent pics of our growing boy:
And here's a new video of little man sitting on his activity mat and playing and drooling and eventually getting tired and fussy. PLEASE NOTE: If your last name is not Carroll or Patrick, you probably won't want to endure the whole thing--it's nearly 5 minutes long. (For those of you bearing the aforementioned last names, knock yourself out. Watch it over and over. Watch it til the cows come home. Watch until smoke is coming out of the back of your computer.)

Fresh veggies + gourmet cook husband = fabulous summertime meal
I grew up eating tons of fresh vegetables with every meal. John Mark is much more particular about what he eats. I tease him that when we first married he seemed to eat cheeseburgers for every meal - he has definitely expanded his culinary horizons since we have been married.
Saturday we went to the farmer's market at Pepper Place and picked up some fresh veggies. JM whipped us up a fresh veggie meal Saturday night (which is something since he normally won't have a meal without meat.) My mom will be so proud!
I grew up going with my mom and Granny to pick peas and then we had to shell them. These were not the same kind but were good none the less.
This is the second time that John Mark has cooked fried okra - it is so good I just can't stop eating it!
Ok, so in Phenix City we never had cornbread made with blue corn meal (way too fancy for us).
My friends, Andy and Ashley McMakin, own their own catering business - Ashley Mac's. They were out at Pepper Place and I got a piece of strawberry cake - which is rumored to be better than Edgar's! I had the whole piece by myself Sunday night and it definitely lived up to the hype. They are going to be featured in the food section of the Birmingham News Wednesday.
